Sculpture is another branch of art. Sculpture is the art of 2-D and 3-D forms and to represent an image, topic or even what is happening in a person or people’s world or to just create any object. Sculpture is in the plastic arts and visual arts category that is 3-D. You can carve, sculpt or model almost anything from stone, wood ceramics, metal, marble, snow, sand, ice etc. One of the most durable long lasting sculpting objects is stone, as we have found hundred-year-old stone sculptures that have lasted for many years. There are many tools that are involved in sculpting such as carving knives, steel scrapers and regular knives etc. If you want to go the more traditional route to sculpt you could use a chisel, hammer or mallet. Many different cultures and religions have many different sculptures or different forms of sculpture in a cultural festival or any religion when you walk into a church, monastery or temple. As we know, sculpture was among one of the very popular arts through out history in India, China, Africa, South America, Europe, Ancient Mediterranean and throughout the world.  As I was saying earlier, people in ancient times would sculpt in times of need or to kind of take a picture in art of what was happening in their lives.

Patricia Leguen was born and raised in Saint-Nazaire France, and then moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Patricia's full

time job is to run a translation business because she can speak many different languages but her true calling is sculpture. The reason I was drawn to Patricia was because instead of using stone, wood, marble, metal etc., she uses harder and different materials such as snow, ice and sand as her materials. Patricia has competed in sculpting competitions around the globe in Canada, Norway, Italy, Russia, U.S.A., Greenland, U.K., Japan, France, Belgium, Arab, Mexico and more. One of her greatest accomplishments is being the only Canadian woman who is competing at an international level with snow, ice and sand. Her sculptures are: Raven Steals the Sun, Femme Fatele, Waiting for Spring, Life, Gulliver, Natural Beauty, Salmon Moon and many more unnamed sculptures.
